Agrimony Organic - Packaged
Agrimony (Agrimonia eupatoria), also known as Church Steeples, Cocklebur, or Stickwort, is a plant in the Rosaceae family, valued for its historical use in herbal traditions. Known for its sticky seeds and often grown as a hedge plant, it has been featured in formulas like Eau de Arquebusade (an aromatic herb liqueur that was used as a digestive aid and to help gunshot victims in the 17th Century). Its drying and slightly bitter qualities, attributed to compounds like flavonoids, phenolic acids, tannins, volatile oils, and small amounts of minerals such as iron and silica, have made it a subject of interest in traditional herbal practices. The plant’s bitter compounds have been noted for supporting digestion or soothing throat discomfort when taken as a tea, contributing to its traditional reputation as a tonic herb.
Not recommended for individuals with chronic dry conditions (e.g., dry skin or constipation) due to its astringent, drying nature, or during pregnancy, as its uterine-stimulating potential is not well-studied. Those on anti-diabetic medications should use caution, as agrimony may enhance blood sugar-lowering effects, potentially causing hypoglycemia. Always consult a healthcare professional before use, especially for medical conditions.*
